Dive With Us (Certified Divers)

Join a 50dives stop for a fun dive, a great group, and a story you’ll be proud to tell

If you’re already certified, you’re exactly who these stops are built for.

At every 50dives event, we team up with a local dive shop, club, or destination partner to put together a fun, community-forward dive day. You show up with your cert, your curiosity, and your love for being underwater—and we’ll help connect you to a local crew who knows the site and wants to share it.

This isn’t a training weekend or a lecture. It’s a chance to dive somewhere new (or revisit a favorite spot) and be part of a bigger adventure: 50 states in 50 days.

What the “fun dive” means at a 50dives stop

A 50dives stop is a local-led dive experience wrapped in an event vibe. Each location is different because each community is different—but the heartbeat stays the same:

You’ll be diving with people who are excited to be there.

Most stops include a meetup point, a plan for the day, a local lead who knows the area, and a clear way to get in the water safely and enjoyably. Sometimes it’s a shore dive. Sometimes it’s a boat. Sometimes it’s a spring, a lake, a quarry, a river, or ocean. The details depend on the site and the host—our job is to make it easy for you to plug in.

And if you’re traveling solo? You won’t feel solo for long. These events are built for connection.

What you can expect on dive day

We keep expectations realistic and communication clear. While every stop has its own flavor, certified divers can generally expect a flow like this:

A clear meeting plan. We’ll share where to meet, when to arrive, and who’s hosting. The host site or shop sets local logistics.

A local briefing. You’ll get the site overview, entry/exit notes, conditions-to-watch, and the game plan for the dive.

A buddy-friendly environment. Come with a buddy or come ready to meet one. We love when certified divers help make the day welcoming—especially for newer certified folks.

A dive that prioritizes smart choices. The goal is a great time underwater, not pushing limits. Dive within your training, comfort, and the conditions.

Time to hang out. Many stops include time to swap stories, grab a bite nearby, take photos, or just enjoy being part of the traveling 50dives crew for a day.

Because our stops are hosted locally, exact details (like the site plan, check-in timing, and what’s available on location) can vary. We’ll point you to the right host info so you’re never guessing.

Who this is perfect for

If you’re certified and you want to dive more—this is your invitation.

A 50dives fun dive is a great fit if you’re:

  • A certified diver who wants a low-friction adventure while traveling or exploring your own region
  • A diver who loves meeting other divers and being part of a community event
  • A photographer, critter-spotter, or “let’s just enjoy it” diver who values the experience as much as the depth
  • A newly certified diver looking for supportive fun dives with a solid plan and good people
  • A longtime diver who wants to give back by being a calm, friendly presence in the water

What to bring (and how to be ready)

We keep this simple: show up prepared, self-aware, and ready for a great dive.

Bring your certification card, your standard personal dive gear, and whatever you normally use to dive comfortably and safely. If you’re traveling light or need something, the local host is typically the best resource for rentals and site-specific recommendations.

A few helpful readiness checks before you join:

  • Make sure you’re comfortable with the type of diving the stop calls for (shore/boat, current/no current, colder/warmer water, etc.)
  • Know your limits—and be ready to say so without pressure
  • Arrive with enough time to gear up without rushing
  • Be the diver you’d want as a buddy: calm, communicative, and attentive

How to join a certified diver stop

When you find an event on our Events and Stops page, you’ll see what’s happening at that location and who’s hosting. From there, follow the instructions for that stop—because the local shop/club/destination partner may manage signups, waivers, rentals, boat seats, or site access.

If you’re not sure which stop is right for you, reach out through our Contact page and tell us:

  • which state/stop you’re looking at
  • your certification level
  • whether you’re bringing your own gear
  • what kind of diving you enjoy most

We’ll help point you in the right direction.

Come for the dive—leave with a story

A certified fun dive with 50dives is exactly what it sounds like: a great day underwater with a great group of people—plus the energy of a project that’s crossing the country one dive at a time.

Pick a stop. Bring your fins. Let’s dive.
