Ledges of Little St James is also sometimes referred to simply as Ledges. It is a popular dive and snorkel site located just off the southwestern tip of Little St. James, an island near St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. As the name suggests, the site is known for its reef ledges, which are undercut in numerous places and attract large schools of grunts and snapper. Divers and snorkelers may also encounter octopuses, moray eels, lobster, sea turtles and stingrays here. Along the southern side of the site, large rock formations extend upwards, occasionally breaking the surface of the water. The sheltered nature of this spot means that divers and snorkelers rarely contend with either waves or current. The site is relatively shallow, and therefore suitable for all experience levels. It is also a popular site for night dives.
